Summary

Positives

  • Curcumin and turmeric come up as anti-inflammatory experiments in broader Long COVID supplement routines, often combined with other herbs or tinctures rather than taken on their own Reddit.

Negatives

  • One patient on warfarin with previously stable INR saw values climb above 10 with bleeding risk after adding a turmeric product, prompting Drugs.com to flag the combination as a clinical interaction Drugs.com.
  • Higher curcumin doses regularly cause nausea, diarrhea and abdominal discomfort, and patients with gallbladder disease or kidney stones often discontinue within weeks Dr Brad Stanfield.

Hurdles & Side Effects

  • Plain curcumin has under 1% bioavailability; piperine raises absorption roughly 20-fold, and lipid-based forms (Meriva, BCM-95, Theracurmin) are typical alternatives but cost $25-50/month Examine.com.
  • Branded formulations (Meriva, NovaSol, CurcuWin, Theracurmin) sometimes overstate bioavailability by counting inactive conjugated metabolites, so label claims are not always comparable ConsumerLab.

Dangerous in supplement form

Chronic Illnesses: Long COVID
Symptoms Treated: All - Better short time - 1-3 months

if you want to add Turmeric in your diet, just use it on food. Turmeric in supplement form is very bad for your liver and a lot of people end up in the hospital because of them. I personally know someone as well.
