Patients Say

Positives

  • Entocort EC is the oral capsule formulation of budesonide primarily used for gut inflammation, so Long COVID patients who end up on it typically have post-COVID GI symptoms — cramping, diarrhea, reflux — rather than the breathing issues more common with inhaled or nebulized budesonide Reddit.

Negatives

  • Drugs.com Entocort EC reviews show some patients reported the medication did not work for their colitis and that they experienced severe psychological and physical side effects requiring hospitalization Drugs.com.
  • One patient on Entocort for microscopic colitis found that GI symptoms returned as soon as they tried to taper off, leaving them stuck on long-term steroid therapy WebMD.

Hurdles & Side Effects

  • Because the oral capsule acts mainly on gut tissue, benefits and tolerability are best judged against the GI symptom pattern specifically, and clinician-directed tapering matters — patient reports about inhaled or nasal budesonide do not transfer cleanly to Entocort EC decisions Phoenix Rising.

I used the liquid form in a neti pot and it helped restore my sense of smell

Chronic Illnesses: Long COVID
Symptoms Treated: Sense Of Smell - Major improvement

I was prescribed budesonide in liquid form. The instructions were that I mix the liquid with distilled water and salt and then rinse out my sinuses with the mixture using a neti pot twice a day. I did this for several months, and I noticed that my sense of smell markedly improved over that time. I tried several treatments (budesonide, PRP, glutathione) to restore my sense of smell, and almost all of them helped. So, it's difficult to say definitively how much one helped compared to the others. But when I stopped using the budesonide rinse for a while, my sense of smell worsened, so I know it was having an effect.

Helped short term memory loss with no side effects

Chronic Illnesses: Long COVID
Symptoms Treated: Anxiety - Better long time Memory - Better long time

I did nebulized budesonide 2x/d for 3 months in a Long Covid clinic a few years back. It took time, but it significantly and permanently helped my short term memory loss, anxiety, and indecisiveness. I didn't have any side effects from it. The only downside is that it's pretty time consuming, but it was well worth it.
