Dr. Blitshteyn is a competent consultant (who does not at this time assume responsiblity for the ongoing treatment of the patients she diagnoses and provides advice to/for) with a credible body of published work who is active on social media (X), which is both good and bad. The ""good"" is her sharing of best practices and scientific articles (which she co-authored) that are useful for patients who need data to be able to advocate for themselves elsewhere, to share with their primary care practitioners, to learn to manage their own conditions to improve their functioning. The ""bad"" is that she gets defensive when confronted in that forum and then makes categorical statements that create the impression that she supports discredited therapeutic modalities in her clinical practice (i.e., GED). In my experience she prescribes exercised in a nuanced/patient-specific way that is consistent with her stated and evidence-based position in the literature (she suggests an affiliated physiotherapist for online consultations/supervision whose approach she can vouch for). I found her personable and caring in virtual and in-person appointments and I know I have benefitted from our discussions and the management advice I've been able to implement so far; she suggests a ""stepwise"" approach to adopting the elements of a holistic program, which seems both prudent and effective. The depth of her clinical experience and expert knowledge inspired my confidence as her patient; what I learned from her has also empowered me in my dealings with other health professionals. I have and will continue recommending her as a peer/patient to other people who might benefit from seeing her for diagnostic visits and follow-up appointments, with one proviso: her brash(er) statements and big personality may not be for everyone.
